Happy Birthday Month, Henry!
I'm a little belated on the b-day month wishes. Hopefully he'll forgive me someday. I have been starting to feel pretty nostalgic about the fact that in 3 weeks we'll have a 1 year old. Holy cow! So many cliches come to mind. It is best said by a wise sage at the Baby Center website. Actually, these are all things about being a mom. And I agree with them all.
It will be a fun couple of weeks as we reminisce the birth story. In fact, my mom reminded me that 1 year ago today was our shower with the Wineberg/Jacobson women. It seems crazy to think of our clean, unfamiliar stroller parked in Scott & Julie's living room. No Chai Tea stains of Banana Puffs or salt from the icy sidewalks. And the panic I felt at the thought of filling our teeny-tiny house up with high chairs and exersaucers and cribs and toys and diapers. And we've made it work.
Here's the List of Things That Change When You Become a Mom.
1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms. (this slowing down thing really took some getting used to)
2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.
3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.
4. You respect your body ... finally.
5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.
6. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.
7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.
8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago. (I don't agree with this one so much, I'm just a bad keeper-in-toucher.)
9. Your heart breaks much more easily.
10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.
11. Every day is a surprise.
12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)
13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.
14. You become a morning person.
15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

16. You better understand and realize how much YOU have been loved for 28+ years!
January 30 is now your "real" Mother's Day! :)
