The Ultrasound.

Well, we didn't find out if its a boy or girl. But the ultrasound tech knows. Her name is Val. I won't give you her phone number. We had a fabulous time watching winebaby in action on Monday. The baby was very active when we first got there. We discovered that baby was face down, appearing to be looking for a way out. She was swinging her arms around and jumping up and down on the placenta. It was really great because her legs kept stretching out, so there was lots to watch.

His heart, stomach, diaphragm, brain, kidneys, and limbs look good. His little fists were swinging and we even saw his cute little knee caps (with strong ACLs). We also saw his eye lens, which hopefully doesn't have keritaconus (my weird eye ailment). He's in good shape.

Baby never rolled over for us to get a good look at the front of it. But Val was able to do all the measurements and everything looked alright. We have a beautiful photo of the baby's profile that really highlights its' spine. You can see its legs tucked underneath its' body. By the time the ultrasound was over, our baby was curled up and fast asleep.

Size: 12 oz. (the size of a can of pop)
Due Date: This child measured exactly 20 weeks and 3 days on Monday. All set for a Feb 9th appearance.
Likes: Jumping, sticking tongue out at mom and dad (we've got the picture to prove it), hiding face, prenatal yoga, PF Chang/PeiWei, Chai Tea Lattes from the Riverview Cafe
Dislikes: Getting picture taken, 5th hour 9th graders, celery, mayonnaise salads, bike thieves
Pastimes in Utero: Jumping, moving mouth, twisting around, listening to other people's conversations, and sleeping in "child's pose" (a yoga pose that he actually fell asleep in while we were watching)
Claims to Fame: The baby owns 7 hats, including a MN Twins sundae helmet that would probably fit its' head right now.

Andy noticed that the baby's legs were crossed at the ankles and we have a great photo of her foot. Val measured the femur and that's when she determined if it's a boy or a girl. Andy and I each have our theories about the sex. I think that since she was so sure, it must be a boy. Andy thinks because the baby is "small" and it was being stubborn about turning over, it must be a girl. I guess we'll wait and see.

On a sad note, some of you know that this last spring we were lucky enough to win some nice bikes from the Living Green Expo. We were pretty pumped to be able to bike ride with the baby next summer. We discovered tonight that our bikes have been stolen out of our garage. Bummer. It doesn't look like either door was forced open, so we're not sure exactly what happened. Right now we're waiting for the police to come and take our report. (Like bike thefts are top priority in our neighborhood... )
