Stroller Discrimination

Today Henry and I lunched with my mom and our friend, Cathie. We met for a lovely time at Big Bowl in Ridgedale. When we arrived, the hostess let us know that strollers are not welcome in Big Bowl. Instead they offered us a high chair. Hello?!?! Clearly Henry cannot be mistaken for a high chair sitter yet; he's pretty wobbly. Anyway, we spent our lunch holding him (which is not really such a bad thing), but it was kinda hard to enjoy eating the meal. In my opinion, they might need to rethink their policy. I guess I have never been annoyed in a restaurant that allows strollers, but maybe that's just me.

Have a great 4th of July!

strollers belong on sidewalks & in parks, not in eating establishments. makes you wonder what the "incident" to mandate that policy was. maybe its 'fire code.'

I think my husband's attempt at sarcasm sucks! but I know he meant well and is on your side. What jerks~it sounds like discrimination to me. I think they allow stollers at movie theaters if he would like to see HP 5 next week with us.

Is your stroller the type that has the car seat sit inside it? Because you can always keep the car seat -- they have special holders for 'em so you can have him at the table.

Here's what they look like:

A lot of restaurants carry them now. They should have at least given you some other options!

ahhh, david. i, too, wonder what could have caused such a rule. strollers belong on disc golf courses too, as was ours last sunday in shakopee. :) my guess was that since this restaurant is in the mall (and not necessarily a "family type" restaurant), they created this law to keep out stroller riff-raff.

beth - henry has not yet seen hp 1-4, so i'm thinking he won't be joining you this week. thanks for inviting him though. :P i bet you guys are super excited! i think that henry's dad is planning to go with you though.(?)

kari - thanks for the updates on the koalakradles. we have seen those at a few restaurants. they are pretty cool. unfortunately for us, henry DOES NOT withstand any length of stationary time in his car seat portion anymore. he thinks he's a big kid or something. :)
